Established in 1921 as NED Government Engineering College, NED University of Engineering & Technology underwent an upgrade in 1977. With a century-long legacy, NED has consistently produced high-quality graduates who have significantly contributed to society worldwide. Today, NED University is renowned globally for its excellence in higher education and scientific research.

NED University established the Thar Institute of Engineering, Sciences & Technology (TIEST) in Mithi city, Tharparkar district, Sindh, located approximately 350 km east of Karachi. The primary objective of TIEST is to educate and train skilled professionals from the underprivileged communities of the district and its surroundings. Additionally, TIEST aims to provide a qualified workforce for the region’s rapidly growing coal excavation and power generation industries.

TIEST was founded in 2019 with the launch of the BS Computer Science program, followed by the introduction of the Civil Engineering program in 2021. In the coming years, plans are underway to introduce additional engineering programs including Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mining Engineering.

Application Deadline: The online application period for admissions to Thar Institute Of Engineering, Science and Technology for 2024 closes on April 30, 2024.

Required Documents:

Candidates must complete the online application process for admission.

Afterwards, they should print out the Application Form, sign it, and submit it along with two attested photocopies of the following documents:

  • Domicile of Sindh Province
  • H.S.C. or equivalent Marks Sheet
  • S.S.C. or equivalent Marks Sheet and Certificate
  • Equivalence Certificate from IBCC for foreign examinations and Grade Sheets, if applicable
  • Hafiz-e-Quran Certificate, if applicable
  • Migration Certificate if the H.S.C. examination was passed from a Board other than Karachi Board
  • Admit Card of pre-admission entry test
  • Affidavit of non-political activities
  • Passport size photographs (08 No)

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Applicants must be domiciled in Sindh Province, excluding those falling under reserved categories.

2. Candidates must have completed their H.S.C. from any recognized Board of Education in Pakistan or an equivalent Foreign Examination recognized by NED University. Alternatively, candidates awaiting final results may apply, provided they have appeared in such examinations. A-Level candidates must submit their A-Level Grade Sheet along with an IBCC Equivalency Certificate.

3. The examination passed should not be earlier than three years prior to the application submission.

4. Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% marks.

5. Candidates with an aggregate of at least 55% marks are eligible for admission to all BS programs except BS(CS).

6. Candidates who have passed H.S.C. with pre-engineering subjects are eligible for admission to BE and BS programs.

7. Candidates who have passed H.S.C. with pre-medical subjects are eligible for admission only in the BS Computer Science program.

8. Candidates who have completed DAE in the relevant discipline from SBTE may be considered for admission against allocated seats as prescribed by PEC.

9. Candidates who have passed HSC Part I from one Board of Examinations and HSC Part II from another Board of Examinations will not be considered for admission.

10. Existing students enrolled at NED University cannot apply for admission again until their current enrollment is canceled.

11. Applicants must have either cleared the Pre-admission Entry Test of NED University with a minimum of 50% marks or obtained a minimum score of 800 in SAT-I and at least 1500 in SAT-II with subjects including Physics/Statistics, Chemistry/Computer Science, and Mathematics/Biology.

12. All test scores are valid for one year; therefore, only results from the current year will be considered.

13. Candidates applying under category R-12(d) (Nominee of Government of Gilgit Baltistan) must provide documentary evidence of having passed the Pre-Admission Entry Test conducted by NED University or any other authority accepted by NED University.
