His Highness Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi-V founded the Islamia institution of Bahawalpur, a public institution in Bahawalpur, Pakistan, in 1925 as the Jamia Abbasia. In 1963, Jamia Abbasia was renamed Jamia Islamia. In 1975, the Punjab Provincial Assembly passed “The Islamia University of Bahawalpur Act 1975,” which transformed the Jamia Islamia into a Chartered University known as “The Islamia University of Bahawalpur.”There are five campuses for the university. Bahawalpur is home to the Abbasia, Baghdad-ul-Jadeed, and Khawaja Fareed campuses; two further campuses are located in Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalnagar.
